What is Tonieplay? Everything Parents Need to Know

While the TonieBox 2 offers all the brilliant storytelling and song singing features of the original Toniebox, it also brings new features to the fore for added interactivity.

One of these is Tonieplay, the ability to play audio games, so children can play on their own or with friends without a screen in front of them. With different boards and characters to play with, and different games to discover, here we look at what it is, how it works and what the games are.

What is Tonieplay?

Tonieplay is a system designed for screen-free fun, where you can play games, follow challenges and listen to quizzes. Using audio prompts, you can follow story quests and play along, with different boards and games that you can purchase separately.

With the Tonieplay controller, you can spin and click along, using it to choose your selection, choose your character or move along. Turn it, press it, play it with intuitive and simple controls. You’ll need the controller to play any of the games as it’s core to how you interact with the TonieBox 2 whilst playing.

You can use the same Tonieplay Controller for all of your different Tonieplay games, and you only need only, even for multiplayer modes.

How does Tonieplay work?

The Tonieplay Controller is a magnetic dial that snaps onto the Toniebox 2 and helps you navigate through the different menu and gameplay options of game boards.

Games slip onto the top of the Toniebox 2 before you attach the controller and then rules and audio are downloaded via Wi-Fi the first time you play. Then, as if by magic, the Toniebox recognises each board you attach, so you can easily swap between them during game time. Once the game is put on top of the box, simply follow the instructions that the box will give you and away you go.

Children can play with parents, friends or on their own, with entertaining and educational games that keep their mind active whilst keeping them away from screens.

What are the Tonieplay Games?

Just like the Tonie Characters, there are an array of different games, themed and featuring your favourite characters, with more coming all the time. Some will come with puzzle boards and tokens or counters to play along with, whilst others just need the game board the fits on the box to use them.

The likes of Bluey, Peppa Pig, and Disney all have games to play with your Toniebox 2 and there are also reimagined classics that help promote free play while still holding onto the core mechanics of those iconic board games.
