With Easter just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to start prepping for ‘eggciting’ activities to do at home! We’ve curated a list of 4 awesome ideas to do during the Easter holidays. Let’s hop right in!

Arts and Crafts

Spring has sprung! And what better time to craft some fun, colourful Spring creations? From bunny ears to yellow fluffy chicks, there are plenty of animals to get inspiration from.

Or why not decorate your own cardboard egg decorations! Cut out egg-shaped cardboard pieces and using pens, paint, cotton wool, glitter, or anything else you might have to create dazzling designs, start creating.

Will they add swirls, shapes, or words? You can make them into colourful hanging decorations for your house by hole punching the top and attaching a ribbon.

Easter Egg Hunt

What Easter holiday would be complete without an epic Easter egg hunt? Whether you use real chocolate eggs, plastic eggs with treats hidden inside or create your own, there’s plenty of fun to be had.

For indoor hunts, perhaps stick to one or two rooms to hide the eggs in. Why not hang some of the arts and crafts we suggested to create earlier around the space to add to the Easter feel?

First things first, you will want to count the eggs before you start hiding them! 10 eggs per child is a good number to start with for an Easter egg hunt but please adjust accordingly!

When looking for places to hide the eggs, you’ll want varied heights and a mix of obvious spots, like on top of the coffee table or on a chair, as well as challenging spots, like on a bookshelf.

When all the eggs have been hidden, it’s time to get hunting!

Baking

Let’s get baking! Easter nests are an easy and quick recipe to get the kids involved in. And of course, a brilliant Easter bake to treat the whole family.

All you’ll need is your chosen ‘nest’ ingredient – you could use Shredded Wheat or Cornflakes – milk chocolate and Mini Eggs to decorate!

Melt you milk chocolate, over simmering water or in the microwave, then pour over your bowl of Shredded Wheat or Cornflakes. Mix well to combine all the yummy goodness together and add more melted chocolate if needed – never a bad idea, if you ask me!

Spoon the mixture into fairy cake cases and make a nest shape by pressing the back of a teaspoon into the centre. Pop 2 or 3 Mini Eggs in the nest and leave to chill in the fridge for a couple of hours. Then tuck straight in!

Games

Get the whole family together this Easter and enjoy an afternoon of Easter-themed games. Who knew there were so many games for eggs?

Start off your fun-filled games day with the classic egg and spoon race. Use plants pots or sticks to signal a finish line and run down the garden without dropping your egg to get first place. Or why not make it a relay-race? Split into teams and race to be crowned the winners!

Hard boiled eggs or plastic eggs can also be used in a game of Catch the Egg! Standing in a circle, take it turns to gently throw the egg to someone else. If they drop it, they’re out!

Another great game is Roll the Egg, an Easter-themed version of Boules! Using hard-boiled eggs (you don’t want raw eggs spilling everywhere!) or plastic eggs, each family member must roll their egg to try and get as close as they can to a chocolate Easter egg, placed at a distance. Whoever rolls their egg the closest, wins the chocolate!
