Your little one is sat on the couch, cuddling their beloved companion who has been there through thick and thin, has faced the elements – spills, mud, and even a little artsy “improvement” with paint and felt-tip pens.

It may seem like they’ve stained it beyond repair, but, don’t worry: This will not be the end of your little one’s squishy friend. Through this article, we will guide you on how to wash your Squishmallow – it’s not as daunting as you might think!

Don’t worry because this will not be the end of your little one’s squishy friend. Through this article, we will guide you on how to wash your Squishmallow, it’s not as daunting as you might think!

Can You Machine Wash Your Squishmallow?

You may have taken a glance at your Squishmallow’s label that strictly advises hand-washing and wondered, “Can I really throw it into the machine?”

Well, machine washing is a risk, but it’s a risk many Squish lovers take on and move forward with no issues. Just look at @Laundrythreesixty on Tiktok

While many find it a great method, it is still against the label instructions. Still, there are some golden rules we can advise you with to help keep your favourites safe and sound:

  • Many recommend using a mesh bag or a pillowcase to protect your squish from snagging or get-ting damaged during the cycle.
  • Toss in other soft material such as blankets, jumpers, duvets or towels to keep it company and provide a cushion-like surrounding.
  • Opt for a cool, gentle cycle and using a low-bubble detergent. Once the cycle is finished, give your Squishmallow a few gentle squeezes to help it regain its shape.

Can Squishmallows go in the dryer?

This is typically advised against, as the manufacturers aren’t too keen. Still, some have found it is possible, like @Kaymaco:

However, if you still want to test the limits, we suggest the lowest possible setting for a short cycle time. The air-dry method is the most recommended when dealing with wet Squishmallows. Patience is key here!

Can you refluff a Squishmallow?

To get your Squishmallow back to its plush shape, simply squish it! Hugging your Squishmallow will help the fibers return to their original shape.

Other ways to wash Squishmallows

For those not wanting to risk the washing machine method, there are a few more gentle options.

  • You can try blot cleaning with a damp cloth to get rid of dirt. Just damp your cloth in water and a little soap and scrub the Squish gently but firmly.
  • Stain remover pens can be like magical wands for stubborn spots.
  • Dried dirt may need some scraping first, so use a blunt object with a good edge for this.
  • Hand-wash and air dry gently to help preserve the soft shape.

How often should you clean Squishmallows?

You may notice your Squishmallow is getting grubby. Clean your cuddly toy as and when you think it needs it. If you spot a stain, aim to tackle it sooner rather than later to prevent it from being spoilt.

Can Squishmallows be washed with detergent?

Squishmallows can be cleaned using laundry detergent, however, make sure that you’re using a mild one. Using a strong detergent puts your Squishmallow at risk of being ruined.

There are many ways to restore your Squishmallow back to its fluffy, huggable self! So why wait? Dive back into the world of Squishmallows, a world filled with cuddles and endless play.
