Eid Al-Fitr is a wonderful celebration for all Muslims worldwide marking the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting, spiritual reflection, and giving to those in need. As families and friends come together to commemorate this joyous occasion, it is essential to engage the kids in the festivities, so they feel a part of the celebration and teachings.

Here are 10 fun ways to have children of all ages feel celebrated and excited to be a part of a joyous culture.

1. DIY Eid Jewellery

2. Eid Painting

Who doesn’t enjoy the therapeutic nature of painting? Set up some easels, painting aprons, and painting sets and have the family come together to make some Eid-inspired art. Whether it’s a beautiful silhouette of a Mosque under the crescent moon or a sea with a sparkling night sky. This is a fun and engaging way for the family to enjoy an activity together.

3. Eid Decorations

Spend quality time with the kids as you all get busy with some much-loved Eid decorations! Gather a variety of coloured paper, children-friendly scissors, and have the kids create several masterpieces of crescent moons and stars, diy Mosques, and fabulous lanterns. You can either display the moons and stars whole or cut them out and have a piece of string glued to each decoration. Then let the kids go wild! They can have them dangle from ceilings, curtains, doorways, or anything they see fit.

4. Moon Sighting

Eid moon sighting.

Moon sightings are very important in Islam so why not create some diy binoculars? You can make this fun with simple materials found around the house, gather a few empty toilet rolls and tape them together and ta-da… the kids have their very own binoculars to spot the new moon with! This way the kids will experience what it is like to know when Eid is officially announced.

5. Sharing the Blessings

Donating.

Advise and guide the kids to give to charities and those in need. In Islam, this is believed to give children good deeds on Eid and help them understand the special nature of giving and including everyone in the festivities – especially the needy.

6. Storytelling
