What are the benefits of Tonies?

What age are Tonies suitable for?

The Toniebox is a screen-free, interactive audio speaker designed for children aged 3 and above. It combines storytelling and music with your child's favourite Tonie characters for a fun, educational, and magical listening experience.

How do Tonies work?

Tonies are small figures with built-in NFC chips that work with the Toniebox audio player. When placed on the Toniebox, the chip is scanned, and if it’s the first use, the corresponding audio content (like a story or songs) is downloaded from the Tonie cloud via Wi-Fi. After that, the content is stored locally so that it can be played without an internet connection. There are also customisable Creative Tonies that users can fill with their own recordings.

Can my Toniebox run out of memory?

The Toniebox has around 8 GB of internal storage to store 6-7 hours of audio. Once the storage is full, the Toniebox will automatically delete the oldest content to make space for new downloads. You won’t lose any content permanently – as long as you still have the Tonie figure, you can re-download it at any time when connected to Wi-Fi.

How long does each Tonie last?

Each Tonie typically lasts between 15 and 60 minutes, with most averaging around 30-40 minutes, depending on the story or songs. Creative Tonies can hold up to 90 minutes of custom recordings. Tonies can be played unlimited times, and their content can be re-downloaded if removed from the Toniebox due to storage limits.

How do I use a Toniebox?

Using the Toniebox couldn’t be easier! Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you set up and get started:

1. To turn the Toniebox on, simply pinch one of the Toniebox ears. The Toniebox should turn on, and the LED will turn solid green once it is ready.

2. Place a Tonie character on top of the Toniebox. The LED will flash green once the audio is ready to play.

3. Control playback with fun, physical gestures:

• Tilt left to rewind
• Tilt right to fast forward
• Tap the sides to skip tracks

4. Adjust the volume by pressing the ears: the right ear turns it up and the left ear turns it down.

5. Pause or resume by removing and replacing the Tonie character on the top of the box. For added functionality, download the Toniebox app on iOS or Android to:

• Set a maximum volume for safe listening
• Sync new Tonies with your Toniebox
• Monitor battery life

6. Once a story has finished, or there are no Tonies on the Toniebox and there is no further activity, the Toniebox turns off automatically after 10 minutes.

Once the app is downloaded, you can sync your phone to your Toniebox by pinching one of the Tonieboxes ears for about three seconds.
