Sadly not made as well as the original from back in the day...

Bought this for my daughter and her partner as we often play Scrabble when they visit us and decided to purchase for them their own Scrabble to play at their home. We have an original Scrabble from back in the day (so it is about 20 years old). The new version really is not up to par. The new version has the bare minimum of instructions on an A4 piece of paper. Ours has a nice booklet which has the instructions, helpful hints and also a helpful part which lets you know the two letters 'words' which are acceptable words to use to fill in those awkward spaces to score points! The new version playing board is very slippery. Our original scrabble seems to have ever so slightly raised squares to help the tiles to stay in place a lot better than the board supplied with this version of Scrabble. We use a 'Lazy Susan' when we play with our version to enable us to turn the board around to the person whose turn it is next and the tiles stay put really well. I think it is just the way things evolve and corners have been cut possibly to save on price. Unfortunately for the reasons mentioned, can't recommend this particular product.

Not very well packaged for sending

Not very well packed. The box of Scrabble was put inside a cardboard box with no bubble wrap or protection hence allowing it to move around it's packaging box which resulted in two of the corners of the Scrabble box being damaged. I unfortunately had to return it.

The scrabble dictionary survived the house move but our game got lost. Mattel provided a better quality replacement which arrived in time for the family Christmas Many thanks

Nice clear colourful version of a classic game. Very happy that the board shows the total number of each of the letters. Bought as up to date replacements for the Scrabble group at a local community centre.
