Since first being introduced in the Despicable Me films, Minions have taken the world by storm with their distinctive language and yellow hue, and chaotic approach to completing tasks.

What’s Minions and Monsters About?

It’s the 1920s, the golden age for the Silver Screen, and the Minions are taking over Hollywood. Beloved by the public, one Minion, James, finds they have a talent for filmmaking and wants to go out of their way to prove their skills.

Deciding to make the most epic monster movie they can, the Minions try to summon up the scariest being they can but instead end up calling upon a cutesy Cthulhu-like character called Goomi.

Goomi may look small and sweet but has a few tricks up their sleeve to call upon other monsters to help out the Minions, but when they do get a hold of an oozing puddle of eyes, it all goes South quickly as it tries to destroy the world, and they must try and save the day.

A family-fun caper that has fun with classic film tropes, filled with jokes and jaunts across old-timey settings, this is sure to be a massive hit that delights viewers of all ages.

When is the Release Date for Minions and Monsters?

Officially being released on July 1^st, 2026, the film is set to be a summer blockbuster, perfect for a nice, air-conditioned cinema trip on those warmer days. There’s been no word on whether there will be a red-carpet event in the UK, but the world premiere will be at the opening of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France.

It’s undoubtedly going to be a swanky event so let’s hope the minions are on their best behaviour for their big moment, suited and booted for such a massive opening.

Who is in the Cast of Minions and Monsters?

With a stacked cast of household names alongside up and coming stars, there’s going to be plenty of voices that you’ll know and love to keep an ear out for.

• Pierre Coffin as Henry, James, Ed, and the Rest of The Minions.

Pierre is the director of the film and was the co-director of the first four Despicable Me movies. The main voice of the minions, he is also a writer and the director of this film.

• Allison Janney as The Tour Guide.

Working since 1989, Allison Janney is known from her roles in The West Wing and The Diplomat. An established star of both stage and screen, she has had many roles in film and television.

• Jesse Eisenberg as Dort.

An alien robot from outer space, Dort lends a hand to help the minions make their film and is voiced by Jesse Eisenberg. A BAFTA award winner, he is known for roles in The Social Network, Batman v Superman, and Now You See Me.

• Zoey Deutch as Debbie.

Coming to public attention through her role on Disney’s The Suite Life On Deck, Zoey Deutch is a screen actor with a wide array of projects under her belt and is soon to be a household name,

• Phil LaMarr as Howard.
• Bobby Moynihan as Phillip.

Howard and Phillip are a pair of monsters who are always by eachothers sides. Voiced by the renowned voice actor Phil LaMarr, who is known for his work on Futurama, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and My Little Pony: A New Generation

Bobby Moynihan is an actor and comedian who has voiced characters on We Bare Bears, The Secret Life of Pets and Hoppers.

• Christoph Waltz as Max.

An Oscar winning actor, Christoph Walz lends his distinctive vocal talents to Max, who is a human film director who supports James’ art. From Austria originally, the emphasis he puts on English words has made his speaking voice very unique.

• Trey Parker as Goomi.

Trey Parker is best known as the co-creator of South Park, where he voices several characters. Now turning his talents to voicing the diminutive Cthulhu-esque creature that helps the minions, Goomi is sure to be a fan favourite.
