Bluey The Movie: Everything You Need to Know

Bluey has long been a star of the small screen with the animated TV show being a beloved staple of many children’s, and adult’s, daily routines. However, in August 2027, we’ll be able to see Bluey in the cinema for the first time as they make the leap to the big screen in a new adventure with a new animated style!

Here, we run through what we know about the upcoming film, and hopefully get you excited for some on screen antics.

How Long will the Bluey Movie Be?

Although an exact runtime hasn’t been confirmed, it has been announced that this will be a feature length film. What that means is that the film will be long enough to be presented on its own in cinemas, so you can have a great day out and not feel shortchanged by the length of it.

It will be a far cry from the average runtime of each Bluey episode, which are usually about 7 minutes long, and even longer than the special ‘The Sign’ which was 28 minutes long. This should make it a proper cinema going experience for the whole family to enjoy, so get the popcorn in!

When is the Bluey Movie Released?

The Bluey Movie is currently scheduled to drop into cinemas on August 6^th 2027. Rather unusually, this will be a worldwide simultaneous release meaning that people across the globe can see the film on the same day, so that no one is having to wait to see it.

After its cinema run, it will be streaming on Disney+ so you can enjoy Bluey movie again and again in the comfort of your own home.

Is The Bluey Movie in 3D?

Something that has got chins wagging (or at least fingers typing online) is that the new film will take a CG animated approach as opposed to the usually 2D animation style of the tv show, seeing Bluey enter the third dimension for the first time.

Some people aren’t sure about this given that part of the show’s charm is its animation style, but this does open up more possibilities for Bluey and co to explore the world around them in greater depth.

Others are excited by the change and are reassured that it will feature the signature warmth and humour of the show as it is written and directed by the series creator Joe Brumm. Much of the main voice cast also returns including Melanie Zanetti as Chilli (Mum) and David McCormack as Bandit (Dad).
