Kids Advent Calendars

What is a toy Advent calendar?

A toy Advent calendar works just like a traditional Advent calendar, with 24 doors to open across December, but instead of chocolate, each one hides a small toy, figure, or accessory. They're a brilliant way to build excitement in the run-up to Christmas, giving children something new to discover every morning. Most are themed around a favourite brand or character, so every reveal feels as exciting as the next.

What's inside a toy Advent calendar?

It depends on the calendar, but most hide a mix of mini figures, accessories, buildable pieces, or small collectables behind each door. LEGO Advent calendars typically include a combination of minifigures, vehicles, and mini builds, each with its own set of step-by-step building instructions printed inside the window. Character-based calendars tend to feature figures, stickers, and themed accessories tied to the show or film. Sensory calendars focus on tactile surprises, with a new squishy toy to discover each day. The one thing they all have in common is that moment of not quite knowing what's behind the next door, which is really the whole point.

What kids' Advent calendars are available?

There's a wide range to choose from, with options to suit every age and interest.

LEGO Advent calendars

LEGO Advent calendars are one of the most popular choices year after year, and it's easy to see why. Each one is packed with 24 buildable mini-figures, vehicles, and accessories. The LEGO Star Wars Advent calendar is a firm favourite with fans of the galaxy far, far away, while the LEGO Marvel Advent calendar brings superhero surprises to each December morning. For Disney fans, the LEGO Disney Princess Advent calendar features beloved characters, including Ariel, Cinderella, and Moana, and the box doubles as a game board once all the doors have been opened. There's also the LEGO City Advent calendar, packed with festive mini builds and characters for children who love the LEGO City world. Most LEGO Advent calendars are suitable for children aged 6 and up.

Character and brand Advent calendars

Beyond LEGO, there are toy Advent calendars featuring characters children already love. The Bluey Advent calendar is a fantastic choice for younger fans, hiding exclusive mini-figures of Bluey, Bingo, Muffin, and Socks in festive Christmas jumpers behind each door. Fans of collecting will love the Clickeez Advent calendar, while the Jurassic World Island Visitor Advent calendar is a brilliant pick for dinosaur fans. For something a little different, the UNO Advent calendar brings a festive twist to a family favourite, and the Hot Wheels Advent calendar is always a hit with children who love cars.

Toy Advent calendars for girls

For girls who love a particular character or world, a themed Advent calendar makes the whole of December feel special. The LEGO Disney Princess Advent calendar is a wonderful choice for Disney fans, bringing Ariel, Cinderella, Moana, and more to life in mini figure form. The Bluey Advent calendar is another brilliant option for younger girls who love Bluey and her family, with exclusive festive figures and accessories to collect across the 24 days. For older girls and teens, the KPop Demon Hunters Advent calendar and the Stranger Things Advent calendar are both brilliant choices that bring something a bit more grown-up to the countdown.

Toy Advent calendars for boys

Action, adventure, and a countdown worth waking up for. The LEGO Star Wars Advent calendar is one of the most sought-after picks for boys every year, packed with droids, starships, and characters in festive outfits from across the Star Wars saga. The LEGO Marvel Advent calendar is another strong choice, hiding Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Captain America behind its doors. The Hot Wheels Advent calendar is a fantastic option for car-obsessed children, and for fans of anime, the Naruto Advent calendar and One Piece Advent calendar bring 24 days of surprises from two of the most beloved series around.

What age are toy Advent calendars suitable for?

Most toy Advent calendars are suitable for children aged 3 and up, though it's always worth checking the age guide on each individual calendar before buying. Character calendars featuring larger figures and simpler reveals tend to work well for younger children from around age 3, while LEGO Advent calendars suit children aged 6 and above. Our shop by agesection can help you find the right fit if you're not sure where to start.

Are toy Advent calendars worth it?

Absolutely. Most toy Advent calendars contain 24 individual items, which is great value when you consider the collection of figures, accessories, and buildable toys inside, compared to buying each piece separately. They also make a wonderful gift in themselves, one that keeps giving every single morning throughout December. For children already deep into collecting a particular brand, an Advent calendar is one of the most exciting ways to grow their collection, one door at a time.

Do toy Advent calendars make good gifts?

They make some of the best gifts of the season. An Advent calendar is something children can look forward to opening every day from the 1st of December, so the excitement starts long before Christmas morning. They work brilliantly as a standalone gift or alongside a bigger present, and for children who love a particular brand or character, a themed calendar feels like something chosen just for them. If you're looking for something to go alongside it, our Christmas stocking fillers range is full of smaller surprises worth tucking away too.

When should I buy a toy Advent calendar?

The earlier the better. The most popular kids' Advent calendars, particularly licensed character and LEGO options, tend to sell out well ahead of December. Buying in advance means you won't miss out, and many are available to pre-order. Keep an eye on our new insection for the latest arrivals as they land.
