What Nintendo Consoles and Bundles Can I Buy?

The Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 are the current Nintendo games consoles on the market at the moment, with both still available to buy video games for. The Nintendo Switch 2 is the successor to the Nintendo Switch and is more powerful for smoother gameplay, has better graphics and a greater internal memory. Because of this, there is a difference in price between the two with the original Nintendo Switch being cheaper.

Both can be bought separately, but the Nintendo Switch 2 can also be picked up with the latest addition to the iconic Mario Kart racing series, Mario Kart World, as a bundle. The game is an open world racing sim where you can drive around the locations from the Super Mario games and race against others to unlock karts and costumes for your character.

What Should I Get: The Nintendo Switch 1 or 2?

The first Nintendo Switch remains highly popular and, as such, still has games available to buy and developers creating games for it. However, what will typically happen is that developers will start to shift their attention to the newer, more powerful technology and eventually you won’t be able to buy new products for the original Switch, although there’s no time frame for this as of yet.

The Switch 2 is still a fairly recent release and so has only a handful of games to go with it so far, however, a whole slate of video games is lined up for it in the near future. It is also backwards compatible, which means it can play the original Switch games as well as its own.

The original Nintendo Switch still has plenty of life left in it and is cheaper than its newer counterpart. However, in terms of long-term investment, you may well get more out of a Switch 2, with the latest games likely to be developed and optimised for it.

Nintendo Switch Games for All Ages

Nintendo have long focussed their consoles on providing family fun, so they ensure an array of games for all ages are made for their systems. Nintendo themselves make Nintendo Switch games with a focus on brilliant, bright characters such as icons like Super Mario and Kirby, who appear in party games and platformers that can be played by everyone, and Sonic the Hedgehog has plenty of appearances on each console as well.

You can find fantastic sports games, open world adventures like the Pokémon games, and more. There are, of course, games for older players, and other developers will continue to make games for the console to suit all wants.

Which Nintendo Switch Controllers and Accessories Do I Need?

Both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 come with all the accessories a single gamer could need to start playing, with detachable Joy Con controllers, a Nintendo Switch charger, and dock to connect it to your TV. However, if you wanted another Nintendo Switch Controller to play multiplayer games or one that is more traditional, you’ll have to purchase this separately.

Controllers can come in wired and wireless form, or you can pick up accessories to turn your Joy Con into a racing wheel for kart games etc. often coming in a bundle with a specific game that their designed for. You can also get controllers with designs of your favourite characters, like Hello Kitty, on or that light up when playing. Customise your gaming set up for a unique feel when jumping into the action.

For those upgrading from the Nintendo Switch to the Nintendo Switch 2, all of your official controllers will still be compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2 for wireless gameplay, although you won’t be able to directly attach the Joy Cons, and other controllers may lack some features.

The selling point of both Nintendo Switch consoles is that they can be plugged in and played on televisions, then taken out of the dock for portable play on the move. This makes them great consoles to take with you to game with friends or to keep you entertained on long journeys. However, you may want to invest in a Nintendo Switch case to carry all of your games with you and avoid scratches and scuffs on the screen. These come in official and unofficial form, and again, can feature characters or other cool and quirky designs.
