When did Back To The Future come out?

‘Back to The Future’ is the film that made sci-fi cool. Released in 1985, this comedic sci-fi series saw a trilogy of movies centred around Marty McFly and his scientist friend Doc Brown, as they convert a Delorean car into a time machine and get stuck in different time periods.

Beloved by many, its lampooning of time travel tropes and the razor quick wit of its lead character saw it zooming into the hearts of many, making it a much-loved film that has fans and collectors seeking out everything from toys for grown-ups to film memorabilia.

What's the most famous line in Back To The Future

The Back to the Future trilogy is filled with iconic lines that are immediately recognisable and often quoted. With its distinctive vein of humour, often delivered with precision from the leads, it’s little wonder that some of the lines have stuck in the public consciousness for so long. But which of these is the most famous?

The one that is considered the best known has to be at the end of the first film. A major plot point is that the Delorean-come-time-machine must hit 88mph before being able to travel in time, and so it needs a run up. When Doc Brown comes to Marty saying they must go to the future to help his children, Marty questions if there’s enough road to which the reply is…

"Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads" before the big reveal that the car can now fly.

Other brilliantly memorable moments include Doc Brown’s iconic catchphrase whenever something surprising happens, which is “Great Scott!”, as well as Marty’s response to finding out that Doc has built a time machine, where he says,

"Wait a minute, Doc. Are you telling me that you built a time machine... out of a DeLorean?”
