Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of fun!!!! A very solid build with lots of complex building techniques. The inside is very detailed and comes with a lovely assortment of minfigures. Took me about 2hrs 15 min to build and what a set I ended up with. I would definitely recommend this set, but only to someone who has experience building with lego. Awesome job lego, can't wait for the first order star destroyer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite Set This set although fairly simple and easy to build, was quite fun. I was intrigued by the design and the mini figures. The cabin is very large to make for easy play. I enjoy the addition of spring loaded cannons and the synchronized moving turbolasers. PROS +Large Cabin +Light Weight +Cool Design +Spring Loaded Cannons CONS -Very Big -Interior supports can get in the way of placing mini figures

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! This set was a gift from my brothers from last Christmas, it seems they went through a lot of trouble to find one since it was out of stock everywhere but managed to find the last box somewhere. Even though I only assembled this bad boy quite recently, it is responsible for my recent, insane shopping spree here at To the model! Just to get it out of the way, it is of course a quite repetitive model, but that was expected. However, it was completely unexpected how great it actually looks when assembled! I would like to take my hat for the designer of this model, specially for the one responsible for the super simple and elegant system that makes all the turrets turn. Very well done! All in all the model is really great and is really really sturdy! Except one little part where I had to make a few minor adjustments - the cover with all the turrets slides a bit on top of the structure, I just needed 4 little studs to fix it. Now I think I have to try and build a bigger version myself, because I love this ship.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing Product, But . . . I'll admit that it had been quite a long time since I had put a larger, slightly more advanced Lego set together -- I think the last bigger set that I truthfully assembled was the old Castle Black Knight's Castle set back in the early 90's -- but I had fiddled around with a few smaller sets since getting back into Lego-building at the ripe age of 32 and absolutely fell in love with this somewhat larger set. I have always been a huge Star Wars fan, ever since my parents got me to watch it back when I was a wee lad, and I have always been a big fan of the Imperial ships (ie: any of the Star Destroyers and TIE fighers, but especially the Super Star Destroyer Executor), mainly because their ships were just WAY cooler than any of the Rebel Alliance starships (the Millennium Falcon excluded, of course)! So when I recently got back into Legos (much to my wife's amusement and occasional eye-rolling whenever a new set starts to take shape on our kitchen table), I immediately wondered: "Huh, I wonder if Lego made a Star Destroyer set?" Imagine my excitement when I found out that they had and I immediately scooped up this set for a somewhat fair price of around $120 on Amazon! Like I already said, I am a huge Star Wars fan and I immediately fell in love with this set, especially during the assembling portion of its creation. The mini-figures are all well-detailed and the little Emperor Palpatine hologram piece just made me smile even bigger when I finally found it among the mess of Lego pieces on the table, even if the Darth Vader mini-fig is my favorite part of this entire set! Now that it is all assembled, it makes a great addition to my Lego Star Wars collection and is one of the sets that stands out from the rest of my Imperial navy and set collections; that being said, the Lego Death Star is definitely my favorite collection piece, but this set definitely holds its own! That being said, I do have a few grievances in toward this set, primarily in particular the "hook" mechanism that allows you to hold it upright and the characteristic hull/bow pieces. After I first put this set together, whenever I picked it up by the "hook," the back portion/propulsion engine region of the set would pull apart and pieces would start falling off, requiring me to take a large portion of this set apart to put it back together. The same thing can also be said about the angled "wings" of the hull/bow of the ship itself: certain pieces kept coming apart and falling off whenever I picked it up to show it off to my friends, wife, and nephew. As you can imagine, this definitely got on my nerves . . . Despite these minor flaws (as I consider them to be) towards the set, they were easily rectified with 1.) super glue and 2.) a few extra 1x6 and 1x8 plates to further stabilize the hull/bow "wing" pieces. Ever since I finally got "smart" in this respect, the Imperial Star Destroyer set has remained intact and looks fantastic on its shelf among the other Imperial Lego sets that I have collected! The only other problem that I truly have with this set, as I believe that few other people have mentioned in their reviews (on this site and others) is this set's lack of efficient playability when you pick it up and "swoosh" it around while humming John Williams' Imperial March (Don't judge me like my wife does, I'm sure that other people that have this set and other Lego Star Wars ship sets have done the exact same thing!). By doing this, even if done gingerly as I did a couple times for fun after it was put together, the above problems inevitably occurred. I remember one time when my nephew was over (he was nine or ten at the time, I believe), he really wanted to play with this Imperial Star Destroyer set, but the minute he touched it, it began falling apart. He felt bad, but at least it was mostly easy to put back together again. So overall, this is my review of this set . . . PROS: - VERY well-detailed and great-looking mini-figures (minus the "mouse bot droid," which I find to be a little simplistic and unnecessary to this set). - The overall set looks simply beautiful when it's actually all put together and stays that way! - It's definitely a great additional, or even standalone, piece to any Lego Star Wars collector's set! - When all of the set's mechanics work correctly (ie: the "hook," the top portion that reveals the inner section of the ship, etc.), it's definitely a very fun set to look at and play with, albeit gingerly at first! CONS: - I'm not going to rehash the major flaws that I personally found in this set, as I believe that I have covered that appropriately. - A limited chance for playability (as mentioned above). - Unless you can get this set for a decent price nowadays (I truly believe that some people are scalping this set for $200+, if not more than that), I don't personally feel that this set is worth buying for anything over what I paid for it, if not for the original market price. Overall, I'd give this set a 3.8 or a 4/5 Stars, or perhaps a 7 on a scale of 10. It is, again, a great addition to any Lego Star Wars collection (in my opinion, despite a few quirks), even if the Mini-Scale and Midi-Scale Star Destroyers (#4492 and #8099, respectively) provide better chances for playability and overall satisfaction!
