Rated 5 out of 5 by from Merida and the Bears... Ok, of all the Princess sets, this is the one I was really waiting for....and it was almost perfect....I love the way that they show you to use some of the pieces creatively.....the only thing I was disappointed in, was the fact that the brothers (bears) weren't fully articulated. I can understand that due to their size that was probably not an option. However, that being said, I would have liked some minor differences in them. Other than that, this is a SOLID set....totally love it, and the price can't be beat for what you get.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from "Pretty" set but disappointed Con- Princess character “Merida” does not exchange parts with regular non-princess characters- Merida cannot wear “firefighter” pants, head is not interchangeable with “firefighter” character bodies, cannot sit and connect with Lego parts- there are not holes to click in with. Character taller than regular characters therefore will not easily adapt into regular Lego sets. Shaped more like "tall thin plastic doll", less like Lego. Con- Castle is oversimplified and is not as complex as the 5-12 sets for gender neutral/boy sets- castle walls are two large curved walls with two curved bricks on top, not interlocking overlapped bricks. Con- Yellow food bowl on interior of castle sitting on table does not have a Lego hole on top, therefore the food does not click in. Pros- Keys that are hidden behind swivel bush actually fit door and open door, fish roasts over fire, catapult launches food, character holds bow and arrow, can remove character’s hair and place “firefighter” helmet on princess, foldable archery range target, tapestry and family crest true to movie, three brother bears are cool, child enjoys the set very much, especially once it was built. Overall- Cool set but disappointed- Would like to see “Princess” also be “firefighter”. Pretty, but not up to overall Lego inner exchangeable standards and not equal to the “boy” sets of the same age levels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect set except for the decals and turkey leg "Brave" is my favorite Disney movie ever - I appreciate its theme of female self-empowerment - and when I saw this set, I immediately bought it! I disliked putting on the decals (for which I subtracted 1 "play experience" star). The pieces either needed to be printed or the decals needed to be at least somewhat removable so a person would get more than 1 try to get a decal positioned correctly. Once a decal is on, you CANNOT move it without ruining it. The two small round decals (the log and the target) were particularly difficult to position, and I failed miserably with both of them. The turkey leg is a bit annoying because it doesn't stay in the bowl, and I can't figure out how to keep it from moving around (and possibly getting lost in the process). Maybe I'll use a some double-stick tape? Relatively minor complaints aside, this set is otherwise excellent. The Merida minifigure is very well done, and I love the little triplet bears. The inclusion of a bow/arrow and target was wonderful, and the castle front and 3 "islands" were amusing and fun to build. I thought the set provided a great deal of "value for money": I'd give it 6 stars if I could! I sincerely hope there will be more "Brave" sets. My fondest wish would be for the witch's hut, including its ability to change form, to be turned into a LEGO set. I'd like to get an Angus (horse) animal that Merida could ride and a portly King Fergus minifigure. I'd especially like to get a Queen Elinor minifigure that could somehow change to and from a bear.
