Description

The design of Team McLaren Mercedes' MP4-20 was heavily influenced by major changes to the rules for the 2005 season. Following its track debut during January testing, the potential in the car was immediately obvious to the team. Kimi Raikkonen took the first victory in the MP4-20 at the Spanish Grand Prix in May. In the following 14 races Kimi and his team-mate Juan Pablo Montoya secured 9 dominant wins between them in one of the most exciting and competitive seasons for years!

Juan Pablo, who joined the team for 2005, took his first victory for Team McLaren Mercedes at the British Grand Prix. As with the 2003 Drivers' standings, Team McLaren Mercedes and Kimi made a convincing runner-up to the World Champions.
